Thank you Schelli and Mike for your artistry in creating this video.

Thanks to Schelli, Mike and Cathy on this video. I enjoy working with Schelli and Mike because the songs we have done are very descriptive and Schelli has enhanced each story with the video.

Still is a special song for me. I think that lyrically it is the best song I have written. The images painted are vivid, and the story of love and loss has a bit of a hook. The most frequent question I get asked by people is “is it a true story?”
I am always hesitant to tell the background of a song because everyone filters the lyrics and music differently, and this one is very personal.

I had the core of the song written for a while. The song idea started with the “perfume would linger”, because of personal experience. Everyone who has had a lover has experienced the opening line, the lingering smell of perfume. I put the song on the shelf for a while because it wasn’t quite right. It wasn’t complete.

Flash forward - Cathy and I were moving some boxes she had and one was filled with some of her late husbands things. She was sorting through the box when I walked in the room. She seemed numb. The finality of her loss hit me for the first time. I finished the song a few days later.

So the song is a collage of real events, real emotions and heartbreak. The characters have been changed to protect the heart of the innocent.

Thanks again to Schelli, Mike and Cathy for bringing it to video. You guys did a great job.

Thank you,
